Lydia Richardson, EUROPE À TERRE
FR 'Lydia Richardson, Europe à terre' a eu lieu le 24.09.2016 dans le cadre du festival d’interventions urbaines Signal à Bruxelles.
Face aux conditions inhumaines d'accueil des migrants qui arrivent aujourd'hui en Europe et à ses frontières, nous avons invité un groupe de participants du Comité des Femmes Sans-Papiers et des résidents des centres d'asiles du Petit-Château (Bxl) et de Woluwe-Saint-Pierre à composer un tableau vivant. A leurs pieds, Lydia Richardson, personnage symbole d’une Europe qui ferme progressivement ses frontières, peine à se relever.
Le temps d’une après-midi, des artistes professionnels et amateurs sont venus se saisir de cette image vivante, à travers la réalisation d’un tableau, d’un dessin, d’un collage, etc
Ensemble, ils ont constitué une collection d'une soixantaine d'oeuvres.

NR 'Lydia Richardson, Europa Uitgeteld' werd gepresenteerd op 24.09.2016 tijdens het stadsinterventies-festival SIGNAL in Brussel.
Aanleiding voor deze publieke performance waren de onmenselijke omstandigheden waarin migranten vandaag terecht komen in Europa of aan haar buitengrenzen.
Een tableau vivant rond het verval van Europa werd bedacht en geposeerd door deelnemers van de Comité des Femmes Sans-Papiers en de asielcentra van de 'Petit-Château' en Woluwe-Saint-Pierre.
Dit levend beeld stond letterlijk model voor professionele kunstenaars, kunstleraars, studenten en vrijetijdsschilders, uitgenodigd om hun eigen versie van dit beeld op papier vast te leggen, te schilderen, te schetsen...
Zo is een collectie van een zestigtal werken ontstaan.

EN The 'Lydia Richardson, Europe in pieces' performance has been presented on 24.09.2016 as part of SIGNAL urban interventions festival.
Considering the inhuman conditions that migrants are facing when arriving in Europe or at its borders, we invited the Comité des Femmes Sans-Papiers and residents of the asylum centrums 'Petit-Château' (Bxl) and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre to compose and pose a living picture in the hart of Brussels.
At their feet, Lydia Richardson, a fictional character that stands as symbol for a declining Europe, struggles to welcome her newcomers.
More than 40 professional and amateur artists came to seize this vivid picture through the making of a painting, drawing, collage...and created together the 'Europe in pieces' collection.
