The ‘Europe in pieces’ collection was created on 24.09.2016, when over 40 artists responded to the public call Lydia Richardson, Europe in pieces, within Festival SIGNAL/Cifas.

At Sainte-Catherine, a living image was waiting to be seized, appropriated and transfigured by whoever wanted to challenge his/her gaze and the ways we welcome newcomers in our city.

This tableau vivant was composed by Anne Thuot with residents of the asylum centrums Petit-Château and Woluwe Saint-Pierre, and women of the Comité des Femmes Sans-Papiers.

Later, at Nuit Blanche Brussels, some of you spent some time wandering around in the Concert Noble for the Lydia Richardson Welcomes You installation.

Offbeat voices, paintings and videos portraying this strange European woman led you to the golden ballroom.

There, surrounding the slow dancing of - unexpected – hosts, the exhibition of the ‘Europe in Pieces’ collection drew another light on the bodies that were inviting you to dance.

Today, we are putting the ‘Europe in Pieces’ collection for sale to the benefit of Globe Aroma, Open House of the Arts for refugee and newly arrived artists.

The funds will be used for renovating the glass roof of its exhibition and studio spaces. We strongly believe in and support the incredible work Globe Aroma has achieved since its creation, even with little means.

Together with the artists and participants of the performance, we hope to welcome you under the glass roof of Globe Aroma for the exhibition and the sale with some drinks and music!

ALL WELCOME!

ALL WELCOME!
